Clearly, a cosmetic and comfortable way to straighten teeth: The case for ClearCorrect® aligners vs. braces

Conventional fixed metal braces work by applying constant pressure to move teeth. Modern alternatives to traditional orthodontics work much the same way, without the uncomfortable, obvious-looking, and non-removable silver-colored brackets, wires, and rubber bands.

A better alternative?

At Pratt Family Dental in Pratt, Kansas, Drs. Carson Hopkins and Steven Kunz strive to provide a wide range of advanced treatment options, from replacing teeth to straightening them. It is truly our privilege to be a convenient, trusted local option for the latest therapies – like ClearCorrect® invisible aligners. These aligners, made proudly in the Lone Star State for nearly 20 years, are fabricated precisely from a special, proprietary Zendura® plastic.

Unlike other clear aligners on the market today, Zendura® features both optimal clarity and comfort. These appliances are made to effectively and comfortably move the teeth. They place gentle yet consistent force on the teeth to support incremental repositioning and tooth movement. Optimal fit also supports comfort. The aligners are truly customized to your mouth’s unique and one-of-a-kind features and specifications. This characteristic also provides peace of mind to our patients; they know that their crowded, crooked teeth and other imbalances will be corrected properly, efficiently, and safely.

Lastly, the special materials and processes associated with ClearCorrect® aligners support the most cosmetic results. Others really can’t see your aligners when you smile and when viewing from a “normal” distance. Basically, ClearCorrect® lives up to its promises!

What to expect

Schedule a ClearCorrect® consultation today. One of our dentists will evaluate your teeth and mouth during your visit. A digital treatment plan is created that allows you to see how your smile will look at the end of treatment. This “try it before you buy it” model is achieved with special software that transforms scans of your mouth into a three-dimensional model and simulation of the treatment process. This information is also used to craft your custom aligners the right way the first time and every time. We have used the ClearCorrect® system to help patients with concerns as varied as modest cosmetic issues to more complex bite-related imbalances. ClearCorrect® is highly versatile, and if it’s right for you, compliance is essential. We’ll make sure you know exactly how to care for and how to wear each aligner.

A few important pointers:

  • Treatment requires multiple sets of aligners or aligner trays
  • Each aligner is associated with a different step in the treatment
  • Drs. Hopkins or Kunz will advise on the wear time for each aligner
  • Usually, every tray is worn for around two to three weeks
  • It is crucial to exchange the aligner for the next one in the series since they correspond with different steps in the treatment
  • Patients love that they can remove ClearCorrect® aligners! However, the trays must remain in your mouth for at least 22 hours daily
  • The aligners should only be out of your mouth when you are eating or brushing and flossing your teeth
  • You’ll also need to clean the aligners as advised by us (to keep them stain- and bacteria-free)
  • Be sure to visit us for regular “check-ins”

During periodic visits to our office in Pratt, Kansas, Drs. Hopkins or Kunz will ensure treatment is progressing well and on schedule. You’ll also be provided with the next set of aligners in your treatment plan.
